The Madras Medical Mission (MMM) on May 11, 2005 launched its telemedicine service for Diagnostic,therapeutic Solutions & enhanced Intensive Care. This is a joint effort with Space Hospitals, a division of Space Computers & Systems Ltd. Through this, MMM envisions providing its technology and service of its expertise to the remote areas in rural villages and suburbs, and also to the people residing in the peripheral parts of towns and cities. This is the first remote enhanced intensive care unit in Asia.

The hospitals connected through telemedicing service include those in Anamalai, Tiruvallur, Dharapuram, Tindivanam, Kumbakonam, Sriperumbudur, Gopichettipalayam, Karaikudi and Pattukottai.Under the initiative, specialists will be connected through a network allowing them to receive and transmit medical records such as echocardiograms, CT scans and X-rays. Based on the information, specialists will be able to treat patients in remote areas.
