Dec 1995	Inauguration of Rajiv Gandhi Center for Research & Training in Cardiac Sciences by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.
Sep 1996	Organ Donation Awareness Day (First Anniversary of Heart Transplantation).
Nov 1996	First Batista procedure done.
Apr 1997	10,000 surgeries completed.
Apr 1997	First Bilateral Lung Transplantation in India.
Jun 1997	First Paediatric Heart Transplant in India done at MMM.
Jun 1998	Inauguration of the First Electro Physiology Lab for Adults & Paediatric patients in Tamil Nadu.
Jun 1998	Inauguration of the Division of Nuclear Medicine
Feb 1999	Auto Transplantation of the Heart: A "Benchmark" in Bench Surgery

In a short span of three years, IRMWH has achieved immense credibility and recognition.

A few of them are listed below:

IRM has now delivered about 300 babies using the state-of- the-art facilities.
IMRWH was the proud host to the first Post Doctoral Fellowship examination, conducted on

30th May, 2003.
The National Board has also chosen the Institute to conduct the Post Doctoral Fellowship Examination

in High Risk Pregnancy and Perinatalogy.
The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University visited us with a view of offering recognition for Ph.D in

Reproductive Medicine and Embryology.
