The department makes every guest welcome and make them feel at home by personal visits, by its communication with families and friends, and in practical ways of support and help.

It is part of the holistic care we offers at Madras medical Mission. Our pastoral team participates in the in the compassionate care we provide to the sick. We extend our services to all who enter our portals, and we strive to make it a place of health and healing, comfort and consolation during testing times. We have, in our hospital, patients from this country, South Asia, Asia-Pacific region, and from Africa and beyond. So there could be, occasionally, language-related or communication problems. Pastoral care department endeavors to bridge this gap and establish better communication under our roof. There are also, times of grief, sorrow, and loss as well, in the hospital. During such crisis situations we all look around for support, comfort and listening ears.

The Pastoral team in our hospital endeavours to care for the family and friends at the time of sorrow and grief. End of life care is an essential part of the care provided at Madras Medical Mission. We would suggest that you may take help, in case you would want to, if any such situations arise. You could ask for counseling and help in times of need. We offer resources of a spiritual nature as well. Prayer for the sick is offered when asked for.

Daily prayer is offered in the prayer hall every day for those who are undergoing procedures and operations. Perhaps, you may want to pray alone for your dear one, and you may require a space for yourself and a quiet corner to pray.

Medical Social Work:

We believe that emotional, psychological, and social well being of a patient goes a long way in hastening the healing process. The Medical Social Work in our hospital is a reflection of our philosophy of care, and it represents our commitment to those who are in need of support and help. This is mainly available only to those who are socially and economically marginalized, and those truly deserving. Our social workers make a critical assessment of those who approach us for financial help, and we put in them in touch with potential donors and well wishers of our hospital who extend their help in times of dire need. We also provide information on care, and offer psychological support to the patients and their families. Our office is located on the mezzanine floor, and functions from 9:00a.m to 6:00pm

The department with the help from Lions Club runs a toy bank for the paediatric patients on the second floor and on regular basis children who visit the outpatient department are presented with chocolates. The activity centre helps the children who come to get treated spend their time to draw and colour. They are also gifted with a toy on their discharge from the hospital. Arrangements for ambulances and funeral services also form part of our responsibility in our hospital. Our department provides recreational reading materials to patients at their request.
