Cardiac screening camps are organized by the Madras Medical Mission at regular intervals. The Malayala Manorama Camp, was organized in 1999- 2000 as a joint venture by the MMM and the Malayala Manorama group, made available cardiac surgery facilities to approximately 500 patients from low socio-economic groups within the adjoining Kerala State. Camps have been organized within the home state of Tamil Nadu as well, including those at Madurai , Tiruvannamalai, Theni and Nagercoil.
In its efforts to make available sophisticated diagnostic facilities at these screening camps, the Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases introduced a Multifunctional Mobile Diagnostic Clinic Service. This is a modern mobile diagnostic 'laboratory' that has an electrocardiogram, echocardiography machine with color Doppler imaging system and a treadmill console.
