BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MEDICAL SOCIOLOGY ( B.SC MS)
Objective
            This programme fulfills the long felt gap between the knowledge and training necessary for all those who work in the first line of interaction with the patients in patient care settings or the beneficiaries in health care programmes of the Government and Non-Government organizations. The knowledge, approach and attitudes of the candidates after the training will meet the expectations and objectives of the health care providers. Equipped with greater sociological and psychosocial understanding they will be able to make rational decisions, be more humane and have better interpersonal working relationship with doctors and colleagues of large organizations providing health care.
              Apart from the didactic lectures, the students are placed in the forenoon in the various departments of the hospital including the Operation Theatre, Intensive Care Units for practical exposure of the reality situations. Practical training in Special Needs centres and other hospitals, nursing homes provides the multi dimensional knowledge of the social problems and the psychosocial needs of the health care industry.
              The job scope for students who complete the course are as Programme Officers in Government / Non-Governmental Organisations; Patient Relations Officer, House Keeping Officer, Supervisors, Ward Secretaries, Receptionists, Data Entry operators, Training / Research Workers in Hospitals and Nursing Homes; Social Investigators in Pollution Control Board; Health Insurance Investigators in Health Insurance ; Investigators and Data Collection personnel in Social epidemiological studies in Research Project.
ELIGIBILITY
              Candidates who have passed 10 +2 or equivalent with Arts, Science or Commerce subjects may appply for admission.
              This B.Sc Medical Sociology is the first of its kind in India, and throws opportunities for a profession in the health field for graduates.
