Hridayaragam
|
Since 2004, Madras Medical Mission and Malayala Manorama have been joining
hands to offer free cardiac surgery to children below poverty line from
Kerala under the Hridayapoorvam Sakhyam programme. The first 100 of these
children were supported by Malayala Manorama. The next 100 was to be
treated by resources raised by Madras Medical Mission. World Malayalee
Council led by noted Chennai businessmen Mr. Reji Abraham, Mr.
N.R.Panicker and Mr. A.V.Anoop graciously came forward to offer assistance
to these children. Under their dynamic leadership a musical night "Hridaya Raagam" was organized on 25.02.06 at the Wesley school grounds at
Royapettah, Chennai. The programme was inaugurated by Padmashri
K.J.Yesudas. Led by Shri. M.Jayachandran, noted composer and playback
singer, a large number of cine artistes and playback singers rendered
enthralling performance to support the cause of cardiac surgery for poor
children.

| From the funds raised, World Malayalee Council supported 25 children under
the Hridayapoorvam Sakhyam project. Noting the overwhelming requests for
surgeries, WMC enhanced the number of beneficiaries under this scheme to
60, 58 of whom have already been operated. Just like the 200 children
under Hridayapoorvam Sakhyam programme, all the children under the Hridaya
Raagam programme have also undergone successful surgery and have been
restored to normal life. |
